Video Tutorial - How to Use Skype.

Although Skype states their VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) application is relatively "easy to download, install and use", a visual tutorial may help those with installing and using this program for the first time. As apart of the best practises publication about Online Volunteerism being developed by Randy Tyler, MYS has facilitated the creation of many how-to videos.

In this context, Macdonald Youth Services (MYS) is pleased to share a video tutorial that provides an overview of how to download, install, configure and use Skype 2.5 for Windows. MYS extends their thanks to online volunteer Yu Cheng, who now lives in China, for creating the approximate nine minute video.

Using a combination of Skype's voice, chat and file transfer features, Macdonald Youth Services demonstrated that such an application can be an effective and efficient tool to help any non-profit advance projects undertaken by their far-flung volunteers.

And in addition to file transfer and one-to-one voice and text-based conversations, Skype also has additional capabilities, such as instant message group chats with up to 100 people, free voice conference calls with up to four people and video calls. Skype is also used as the preferred VoIP application by notable podcasters, where an interview format is used. Assuming you are not using a more advanced set-up (such as a firewire-based interface and/or mixer with XLR mics and headphones) Skype, or any VoIP application works best with a headset, preferably a USB-based headset such as the Plantronics DSP line.

If you are experiencing poor voice communication when using Skype, try setting up port forwarding on your router/ firewall to enable a direct connection. Through static port forwarding, a static port is assigned for Skype to use (in this configuration, to prevent Skype from becoming a server, do not leave your application running).

p.s. the Particle Illusion content also

effect to your video clip.

Extra Information:

The first guide is called Combo XML guide, what does this means? Its basically about some techniques used to apply multiple layers of transitions, title or effects on each other in order to create something new! Perhaps in my next video, I could demonstrate other XML that works with each other as in a combo.

Particle Illusion could be use to spice up your video clips with some stunning special effects. It could be use for background animation, title animation and lots more.

Music quality enhancement requires Winamp with its own DFX Audio Enhancement plugin and another audio software such as Blaze Media Pro to convert WAV files into MP3 files. This conversion is to compressed the large size of WAV.

Video Tutorial - Windows Movie Maker Tutorial (Part 2)

Hi folks! There are 4 mini guides in this ten minutes video tutorial, some are short and long. It teaches you on how to get extra Windows Movie Maker titles, transitions and effects for your video. Apart from that, this guide helps newbies on how to create the effect which has lots of process. There are some samples for preview (MapleStory)

Contents:
1. Creating AddOnTFX
2. Brady Bunch effect
3. Reverse
4. Blue Screen Effect

------------------------

Extra Information:

Firstly, AddOnTFX folder is required to store your downloaded extra transition, title and effect created by the members from the WMM forum. This folder is placed in c:\program files\movie maker\shared You will need to be log on as an Administrator account to create this folder as well as updating the transition / title / effects

If you have watched my Windows Movie Maker P1,
and was wandering how I had 4 video clips playing
in 1 screen, it is this effect called Brady Bunch.
Brady Bunch effect requires 2 stuff, one is Brady Bunch XML which can be found from:
www.windowsmoviemakers.net/forums and the other is Rehan's PIP+ plugin for windows movie maker, and this could be obtained from the website link:
http://www.rehanfx.org/pipplus.htm

Reverse effect is done using 3 softwares, which are notepad, AviSynth and Virtual Dub. You could also use LSmaker to do the reversing as well as creating light saber for Windows Movie Maker. AviSynth is required to create the script for VirtualDub to use in order to reverse the uncompressed avi.

Blue Screen effect can be used for news broadcaster, weather forecaster or even creating star wars background. You will need 2 video clips, one is the normal video and the other has blue background. The normal video will be displayed in the blue background, and it will display the other stuff that is not blue (e.g. frame) You could stand behind a blue screen and pretend you are talking about the weather, and import it into Windows Movie Maker from video camera.
